10:50 AM - 11:30 AM | Designing Adaptive Learning Pathways with H5P: Moving from Interactivity to Pedagogy-Driven Learning Interactive digital content is now widely used in higher education, yet much online learning still mirrors traditional delivery models where students passively consume videos or readings. While H5P enables educators to create engaging quizzes, interactive videos, and branching activities, the true pedagogical potential of these tools emerges when interactivity is intentionally integrated into learning design. The introduction of adaptive release capabilities provides new opportunities to move beyond isolated interactive activities toward structured learning pathways that respond to learner progress. This presentation explores how adaptive release can be used to design purposeful learning sequences where access to content or activities is guided by learner interaction, completion, or demonstrated understanding. Rather than presenting all learning materials simultaneously, adaptive release enables educators to scaffold learning by revealing content progressively, allowing students to engage with concepts in a staged and supported manner. Drawing on innovative implementations developed at the University of New England, the session will showcase practical examples of how multiple H5P activity types—such as interactive videos, knowledge-check quizzes, reflective prompts, and branching scenarios—can be combined to support adaptive progression within a learning module. These examples illustrate how interactive activities can function together as a coherent learning pathway that supports formative feedback, learner engagement, and progressive knowledge development. Through a live demonstration, participants will see how a traditionally linear online module can be transformed into a dynamic learning experience in which learners actively interact with content and demonstrate understanding before progressing further. The design approach is grounded in established pedagogical frameworks including Constructive Alignment and Mastery Learning, ensuring that adaptive release supports meaningful learning rather than functioning merely as a technical feature. The session concludes with practical design patterns and reusable strategies that educators and learning designers can adopt when implementing adaptive learning pathways using H5P. Participants will leave with concrete ideas for moving from standalone interactive activities to coherent, pedagogy-driven adaptive learning experiences. Speaker:

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM | Smart Tutorials the revolution (mass deployment of Smart Import) Using Smart import we accomplished what we had been trying to do for years. Through action research methodologies we engaged students and staff to transform didactic teaching to case based learning by creating "Smart Tutorials" to pre-load their learning content for each session. This outlines the journey and the iterative processes that revolutionised our classroom delivery. From these successes we went on to create a course design template for our short courses with blended delivery, reducing course build time by 2/3's. Come see what Smart Import can do to change your institution. Speaker:

13:15 - 1:45 PM | Immersive Learning with 360° Virtual Tours and AI This project explores an experimental AI-enhanced H5P Virtual Tour developed during my postgraduate studies in Learning Design at Victoria University, where I now work as a Learning Designer. Designed as a formative assessment within a microlearning experience, the activity places learners in a 360° AI-generated environment (using Skybox AI), where they explore an immersive media lab and engage with embedded prompts, exemplar videos, and reflective questions. The experience supports active exploration, critical observation, and the application of learning design principles through a discovery-based approach. The design is informed by ADGIE (an AI-integrated extension of ADDIE) and Backward Design to ensure constructive alignment, while interactive hotspots and gamified elements enhance engagement. Generative AI tools enable rapid prototyping and multimodal content creation, allowing greater focus on pedagogical design. As an exploratory learning design project, this work demonstrates practical approaches to integrating AI and immersive technologies into scalable, engaging learning experiences in higher education. 1:45 PM - 2:15 PM | Strategy Sprint: Using H5P's Branching Scenario to Gamify Learning This presentation reports on the design and implementation of a “Strategy Sprint” game using H5P’s Branching Scenario tool to support active learning in a second-year business strategy course. The activity is designed to help students practise applying core strategic concepts to realistic, time-pressured decision-making, while working collaboratively in role-based teams. Speakers:

2:15 PM - 2:45 PM | Interactive Learning Quality and AI: Insights from La Trobe’s Award-Winning H5P This session explores how we use the principles of Accessibility, Quality, Usability, Scalability and Sustainability to bring subjects to life with active learning in the age of AI, showcasing the winning branching scenario of the Third Annual H5P Awards Impactful Gamification category this year. La Trobe saw a strong uptake of H5P in its Moodle LMS in 2019 led by the H5P Innovators Group. Since then, designers in Education Services have relied on H5P to create high quality interactive multimedia, including the branching scenario showcase. With growing demand to improve learning experiences, alongside the emerging use of GenAI, the conversation is shifting to how people with limited time are creating content – applying sound information design, practical workflows, and a clear understanding of where H5P is most effective Speakers:

2:45 PM - 3:15 PM | Afternoon Coffee Break |
3:15 PM - 3:45 PM | Better together: How H5P Adds Value to Articulate Rise - A Practical Case Study from NATS0009 H5P has become a powerful tool for creating engaging, interactive learning experiences that promote active participation, immediate feedback, and learner autonomy. When combined with Articulate Rise, H5P can significantly extend the pedagogical possibilities of online learning design, particularly in flipped learning environments. This presentation explores how H5P interactives were embedded within Articulate Rise modules in NATS0009, a subject from the University Preparatory Program in Nursing at Western Sydney University. Designed to support a flipped learning approach, the modules introduce key concepts before class, enabling students to engage with foundational knowledge at their own pace and arrive better prepared for face-to-face learning activities. Through a practical case study, participants will see how H5P activities were used to transform passive content into active learning experiences. Interactive knowledge checks and immediate feedback opportunities encouraged students to test their understanding, reinforce key concepts, and engage more deeply with the learning materials. The session will showcase examples of embedded H5P activities and discuss the pedagogical considerations, design decisions, and technical workflow that informed their implementation. Participants will leave with practical ideas for integrating H5P into Rise courses, enhancing flipped learning experiences, and creating more engaging and learner-centred online environments.
