How to Adopt New Interactive Content Tools at Scale
How Norway's largest university got over 500 faculty creating interactive content with H5P and made it an integral part of their technology strategy.
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is Norway's largest university with a focus on natural science and technology.
Despite its roots dating back to 1700, NTNU is dedicated to staying relevant in the modern world, with a mission to develop the technological foundation for Norway's future society. They achieve this partly through a wide scale adoption of H5P to make interactive content.

Background
In 2020, NTNU's Senior Advisor discovered H5P.com while searching for a new product to add to their portfolio. Today, H5P Group has a strong relationship with the Section for Teaching and Learning Support, having collaborated on multiple projects in recent years.
At H5P, we wanted to find out what their secret was to achieving wide adoption, with over 500 H5P interactive content authors across the university and thousands of pieces of content.
Adoption of H5P
Gaute Bjørnli, Advisor to the NTNU department, explains that basic H5P training sessions are held every two weeks or once a month in English.
With the help of intranet documentation, examples from the H5P.org site, and basic courses shared through their LMS, H5P.com has become an integral part of NTNU's technology strategy.
Popular interactive content types
The Interactive Book content type from H5P is particularly popular among teachers at NTNU, as it allows for quick creation of large courses divided into chapters and features a range of content types for different learners.
Interactive Video is also commonly used due to its seamless integration with Panopto.
“We also have dedicated teachers who are interested in making interactive content with H5P and therefore trained in the features. They spread the training to others.”
